A successful visit to Pakistan should always include three things: good food, cultural exploration, and some time to take it all in! When planning the South Asia Tour this fall, Team EdUSA certainly did not miss this memo. The group of 14 U.S. university representatives thoroughly enjoyed many touristy activities that were seamlessly integrated into the ten-day itinerary.
A welcome dinner at Chef’s Table in Karachi kick-started the tour and set the tone. Over a lavish 10-course meal, the group enjoyed culinary masterpieces of authentic Pakistani cuisine with Michelin-level presentation. It was the perfect way to break the ice.
The highlight of the tour was a visit to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, one of the holiest sites in Sikhism, situated near the India-Pakistan border. The majestic vews of the gurduwara, the deep religious and historic significance of the site, and a backdrop of the setting sun truly made this an excursion to remember.
“I can not say enough good things about EducationUSA Pakistan team, they really take the time and effort to show us the culture of Pakistan. This not only helps us relate with students in a much more significant way, but it is also such an honor to see this amazing country,” said Chloe Glenn from SUNY at Albany.
The tour wrapped up with the same tone it started from: through an immersion into Pakistani culture and cuisine. After a short stroll and souvenir shopping on Food Street, housed within the historic Walled City of Lahore, the reps enjoyed a delicious farewell meal at Andaaz, a restaurant that boasts the most up-close, stunning view of the Badshahi Mosque.
“I’ve participated in the EducationUSA Pakistan tour twice now, and each time is equally memorable,” said Raldy Marino from Cascadia College.
Adeel Ahmed echoed similar thoughts.
“EducationUSA Pakistan kills it every single time!” he said.
