Celebrations commenced with the greatly anticipated High Achievers’ and Counselors’ Recognition Ceremony in Lahore to honor brilliant students and recognize the efforts of dedicated counselors across the region. This was followed by similar in-person ceremonies in Karachi and Islamabad. In total, 234 students from 18 cities were recognized for their outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements, and the nominations were submitted by 80 high school counselors. Eighteen U.S. higher education institutions also participated by pre-screening student profiles and encouraging potential applicants to apply during the next admissions cycle by offering multiple scholarships. Counselors won awards based on three categories: Students’ Choice Award, Most Promising Counselor, and Counselor of the Year.

“This ceremony is all about honoring the efforts of our brilliant students and the counselors who help them every step of the way,” said Director EducationUSA Advising Kathy Aziz. “It’s truly inspiring to see their dreams and goals come to fruition.”

Other events included information sessions at inter-school competitions, fairs, and Lincoln Corners, and outreach in typically under-served cities, such as Peshawar, Muridke, Gujrat, and Sialkot.

IEW, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, is an annual opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education worldwide.
