USEFP would like to congratulate two Fulbright post-doc alumni who have recently been inducted as Vice Chancellors.
Dr. Zaffar M. Khan, University of Technology, Nowshera
Dr. Khan completed his post-doc from Iowa State University in 1995. He established the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and jump-started graduate programs in mechanical and aerospace engineering in collaboration with Michigan State University and Iowa State University.
Dr. Khan has also served as CEO of ISTech Pvt. Limited and as a visiting professor at NUST, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in advanced engineering materials and polymer composite materials. He has been guiding faculty and students about commercialization of high technologies, teaching materials and mechanics, and supervising graduate research as a professor at Institute of Space Technology.
Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, Virtual University, Lahore
Dr. Bhatti attended the University of Illinois on a Fulbright scholarship for his post-doc work between 2002 and 2004. Before that, he obtained his MPhil and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge, UK, in Microelectronics and Optoelectronics.
He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses at COMSATS University, Islamabad, where he also served as Dean of the Faculty of Science and set up a laboratory for micro and nano devices.
Dr. Bhatti’s research interests include materials science, nanostructures, optoelectronics and low temperature physics and he has published more than 130 research articles. For his outstanding research achievements, he was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2012 and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2020.
