Seventy-five years ago, USEFP was founded with a simple but powerful idea: that education can build understanding, opportunity, and lasting connections between nations. This winter, that idea was celebrated by the community that has carried it forward for generations.
Colleagues, alumni, partners, and friends came together to reflect on the organization’s journey and the thousands of lives that have been shaped by educational exchange. Since its establishment in 1950 as a binational commission, USEFP has helped create pathways to learning that continue to strengthen institutions and communities across Pakistan and the United States of America.
“This anniversary belongs to everyone who has been part of the USEFP story,” said USEFP Executive Director Peter Moran. “It is a moment to mark our shared history and to renew our commitment to expanding access to opportunity for future generations.”
From university campuses and research labs to classrooms, public service, and creative fields, USEFP alumni represent a diverse community united by the shared experience of exchange and the will to make a difference.
“For 75 years, USEFP has been about people – their curiosity, their resilience, and their belief in the value of learning beyond borders,” said USEFP Director of Alumni Affairs Mazhar Q. Awan. “From the first grantees to today, we continue to witness the emergence of many leaders who are making meaningful contributions across the country. We are so proud of our dynamic alumni network, our programs, and the work we have done and continue to do.”
