This quarter saw 54 undergraduate students selected for the Global Undergraduate Exchange (Global UGRAD) Program begin their semester exchange experiences in the United States. Right before they took off, they assembled in Islamabad to attend a pre-departure orientation (PDO) organized by the programs department. The sessions were carefully crafted to equip the U.S.-bound students with essential information about American culture, campus life, visa requirements, and travel guidelines.
A total of 108 students were awarded the Global UGRAD scholarship in the 2024-25 academic year, with 54 of those departing earlier in the year, in time for the spring semester. The Fall 2024 cohort hails from all regions of Pakistan and represents a diversity of cultures and fields of study.
“We are proud of each one of you for securing the Global UGRAD Scholarship to spend a semester in the United States,” said USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar during the orientation. “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Pakistani culture, learn from your American and international peers, and make the most of your exchange experience. We hope you return with a wealth of knowledge and unforgettable memories.”
Administered by USEFP, this exchange program provides participants a unique opportunity to enrich their education by spending one semester of nondegree study at a U.S. university or college. It is a unique opportunity for the students to enrich their education, foster cross-cultural understanding, and become community leaders.
