Fulbright Scholar Nominated for Tamgha-e-Imtiaz

During the last quarter, Fulbright alumnus Professor Dr. Rahmat Ellahi was nominated for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civil honors, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of mathematics. Dr. Ellahi completed his postdoctoral research at the University of California, Riverside, in 2012 under the Fulbright Scholar program and currently works at the International Islamic University, Islamabad.

“Being nominated for the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz is a profound honor that fills me with gratitude for my mentors and family, while also reminding me of my responsibility to give back to society. The Fulbright experience has been a cornerstone of my journey – it has been transformative in shaping my vision and impact,” he said while reflecting on his nomination. “Thank you, USEFP, for opening the door of opportunity for me and countless others like myself.”

Dr. Ellahi is the recipient of multiple national and international distinctions, including the International Obada Prize (2023), recognition as a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate, and the Best University Teacher award by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. A prolific academic, he has published more than 350 papers, authored six books, and supervised over 50 PhD and MS students.

The award ceremony will take place on March 23, 2026.
