Humphrey Conference Casts a Spotlight on Social Responsibility

In collaboration with the U.S. Mission to Pakistan and the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), USEFP hosted the 5thannual Hubert H. Humphrey Alumni Conference in Islamabad from May 10 to 12. Propelled by the theme of social responsibility, around 100 alumni from across the country converged to share their valuable insights on civic duty, education, inclusivity, and empowerment.

Also in attendance was U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome. He appreciated the dedication of the participants to the uplift of their communities.

“Each of you were chosen for this conference because you demonstrated a commitment to social responsibility. You are making your communities, Pakistan, the United States, and the world a better place. And, along with the other 44,000 PUAN members from dozens of other U.S. exchange programs, you are helping to address some of the world’s biggest challenges,” said Blome.

The conference featured esteemed speakers who emphasized the need for public-centric policing, investment in women’s empowerment projects, and digital transformation to promote diversity. Through engaging panel discussions, participants learned about recent research and networked with others who shared their vision.

USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar thanked attendees for continuing to build on their Humphrey experiences to address pertinent issues in Pakistan.
